MAGDU Board Meeting Minutes
July 22, 2006
Present:
Gary Norman, Nanci Dosh, Don Olson, Vanessa Lowery, Jane Sheehan
Absent:
Margaret Buzzard and Howard Della.
Vanessa reported on presenters for the August 12 seminar:
Representatives from Fidelco & the Seeing Eye (Ray Korman) as well as possibly a former Leader dog instructor Colleen Carty, who lives in Virginia). Lieutenant Reed from the police department will get back with Vanessa about sending a speaker, Vanessa will follow up.
Some puppy-raisers will be attending.
I said that I had received a request for a guide dog team to speak to a puppy-raiser group from Charles County. (Subsequent to the meeting, I spoke to my contact there and invited them to the August 12 conference.
There will be a speaker from the fire department and the last event of the day is a presentation concerning Segways.
As of this writing, we expect 19 or 20 attendees. Vanessa will give me a list of attendees in the DC area so we may arrange transportation. Nanci will pick up Margaret, Don will take the train.
Lunch: We plan to order pizza from Roma's, Vanessa will verify that.
Nanci will prepare crepes for breakfast with coffee. Vanessa will bring paper products & sodas, Gary will bring chips and snack food. Nanci & Laura will collect $15 per person at the door.
Nanci reminded us of the crab feast fund-raiser on August 25 planned by one of her clients if anyone is interested in attending.
Treasurer's Report:
Beginning balance January 1, 2006 $1,595.65. Income: collected $149 dues, $1.33 interest; expenses: $136 per capita dues to GDUI, $52 transportation, $16.28 copying brochures (I will send these to Nanci), $25 ACBM per capita dues, $191 for state IRS charter amendments (no word yet to Nanci from lady in IRS in Seattle on that, Nanci will follow up on this.) Balance now is $1325.70.
The treasurer's report was approved.
Ruth Hairsine plans to make and sell a quilt again for a MAGDU fund-raiser.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am.
